Chicago, 1993. Trapped in a downward spiral of self-destruction, the 23-year-old drug and alcohol dependent, James Fray, finds himself in Minnesota’s Hazelden Foundation for addicts, after a wild night out. There, amid equally tormented patients, James strikes up an unexpected acquaintance with the beautiful and frail addict, Lilly, against the institution’s strict rules. Under the watchful eye of the ward’s supervisor, Lincoln, and the kind psychologist, Joanne, James starts to see the error of his ways, as his secret affair with Lilly grows stronger and stronger. Will they manage to keep their love secret? Can there be a future between the pair of lost souls when a difficult decision can change everything forever?
